Frederick, MD – April 30, 2004 – Roy Rogers Franchise Company, LLC, announced today that Gould Restaurants, Inc. has signed a new long-term pioneer franchise agreement for its two Roy Rogers locations in Southern Maryland.
This new agreement follows the Plamondon Companies’ November 2003 announcement of the revitalization of the Roy Rogers brand with its purchase of the Roy Rogers trademark and franchise system. The company has implemented an ambitious “Roy Rogers Rides Again” plan that includes marketing, operations and training programs for current franchisees as well as prospective franchisees. Two existing franchisees have recently endorsed this new agreement. They are Gould Restaurants, Inc., operating two Roy Rogers Restaurants in southern Maryland, and Todd Restaurants, Inc., operating four Roy Rogers Restaurants in Alexandria, Virginia,
Ken Gould, Sr., President of Gould Restaurants, Inc., became manager of the first Roy Rogers restaurant located in Fairfax, VA, in April 1968, when Marriott Corporation developed the chain of restaurants. Gould later became the Regional Operations Manager for 35 Roy Rogers Restaurants in Maryland and Northern Virginia. In 1983, Ken, Sr. retired from Marriott and started Gould Restaurants, Inc. With his son, Ken, Jr., they opened their first Roy Rogers Restaurant in La Plata, MD, where the cowboy himself, Roy Rogers, would visit frequently. Today, they own and operate two Roy Rogers Restaurants - 6300 Crain Highway, La Plata, MD and 14000 H.G. Truman Road, Solomons Island, MD. Ken Gould, Jr., a former purchasing agent with Marriott, is President and Operations Director of the Gould franchise and manages both restaurants to ensure the best quality in the food served to their loyal guests.
Jim Plamondon, Co-President of Roy Rogers Franchise Company, stated, “we are pleased to have the Gould’s join our new program and continue operating their Roy Rogers Restaurants. The Gould’s commitment to quality can be seen in their restaurants with cleanliness, friendly associates and delicious food, all strengths of Roy Rogers and what the chain represents.” The Gould’s have carried this philosophy into the communities in which they serve. They have received several awards for the generosity and support they have shown over the years. The Charles County Sheriff’s Office presented them recently with a “Sheriff’s Recognition Award” for their “continuous support most generous contributions to public safety.”
Owner and operator, Ken Gould, Sr., stated, “Having had prior knowledge of the Plamondon reputation of integrity, excellence and determination, it was our privilege to become associated with the Plamondon Companies. We are extremely confident and optimistic that their goals of excellence in quality food and service will contribute greatly to the successful return of Roy Rogers restaurants to prominence and popularity to the fast food industry. We are pleased and proud to be part of the team and we heartily encourage others with these same ideals and qualifications to become involved in this exciting and profitable venture. God bless and Happy Trails.”
The Plamondon Companies are the franchisor for Roy Rogers Restaurants and operate 15 corporate Roy Rogers Restaurants and 47 franchise locations.
