National Restaurant Association Awards Roy Rogers Good Neighbor Award
Frederick, Maryland - October 2, 2006 - The National Restaurant Association named locally-based Roy Rogers Restaurants as one of three Maryland State Winners for the Good Neighbor Award. This award is given to a restaurant that demonstrates outstanding community involvement. Criteria for winners include: overall impact of their community program, duration and level of involvement, goals and innovation.
Roy Rogers received this honor based on its Community Fundraising Program. This program helps schools, civic groups and other non-profit organizations to raise money for their specific needs. The Roy Rogers Restaurant promotes the program in the individual community, and in a coordinated effort, both the restaurant and the organization team up to host a "Family Night" at the restaurant. This program allows groups such as schools, youth groups and other non-profit organizations to choose a night during which their group earns 25% of the sales over a three-hour period. In 2005, Roy Rogers donated over $22,000.00 to local organizations, and nearly $15,000.00 has already been awarded in 2006 through community fundraising.
As a state winner, Roy Rogers received recognition at the National Restaurant Association's Public Affairs Conference earlier this month in Washington, D.C. The restaurant is also profiled on the organizations website.
